Mitchell South Dakota (Leaving)

I was up at 6:30 am and had everything packed and entry number 13 uploaded by 8:30am. I drove into Mitchell looking for a grocery store, gas station and the "world famous" Corn Palace. I found all three. The Corn Palace is a civic center decorated on the outside with murals made out of different ears of corn. I got gas at a local dive convenience store against my better judgement. I try to stay with the national brands, but it was handy and had pay-at-the-pump. I think I paid for that with a little scare later in the day.

It was 9:45 am and already hot, muggy, and windy on the Interstate. Hoping to minimize the effect on my bike, I kept my speed around 60 mph even though the limit was 75. I was headed East to Gann Valley where my father's family originated from. I was nolt sure why.
