Bull River Campground (Leaving)

I awoke to the sound of one of my thoughtful neighbors telling his dog to defecate within 10 feet of my tent at about 7 am. I immediately unzipped my window, got a good look at the culprit, cussed at him under my breath and exited the tent as fast as I could. By the time I got out he was 100 feet away and closer to his RV trying to look innocent. Got to right an expose on dog owners.

I was only a couple of hours from Polson which I thought would be near my final destination for the day, so I took my time and only went 60 mph in the 70 mph zones. I stopped at a few campgrounds to check them out and washed the car and bike in Thompson Falls. It was Sunday morning and pretty quiet on the roads.

I arrived in Polson around 10 am, not sure of why I was there. I decided to check out Ronan and Pablo which were small towns south of there. They were nice little quiet towns that took pride in the streets that were not part of the major highway. Pablo had a community college that looked pretty deserted. I suspected it was run by native Americans but not sure.

I stopped at the Walmart back in Polson to get some supplies. I am always buying food lately, but can't remember eating it. I headed up the East Side of Flathead Lake. I planned to stay at a State Park there if I could find one satisfactory. If not I would head back to the Polson KOA. That would allow me to update my pages and make apologies for an email I had sent out in which I had misinterpreted an email sent to me.

I pulled into Wayfarers State Park just south of Big Fork around 1 pm. I was dead tired and depressed for some reason. The camp was OK. It was right on the Lake and had plenty of tall trees for cover, but it was a windy day with thunderstorm clouds all around. It had cooled off considerably since bull river.

Two pieces of news on the radio may have contributed to my mood. One story happened the night before I arrived. The story was that a woman had run inside her house to get her purse leaving her 2 and 3 year old daughters in her van. When she came back the van was rolling towards a cliff. She ran after it but could not catch it. It went over a 500 to 1000 foot cliff and into Flathead Lake. She dove in after it. She and a boater were able to save her 3 year old daughter, but not the two year old which was strapped into a car seat. That story is so unbelievable in many ways. All 3 of them would be dead seems to me if they jumped off a cliff that high. I just felt so sad for the loss of the girl and for the mother's grief. The high winds were keeping rescuers from revcovering the van that day.

The second story was that a 12 year old boy scout (boy) had drowned in Glacier National Park. The searches said they have found the body but a whirlpool was keeping it trapped 30 feet below the surface of the water. They asked the family if they should risk the rescuers lives to retrieve the body and they saidno. Again, the facts don't match my concept of the physical world. I fely the grief of the family though.

After picking a site with easy access to the rocky shore of the lake, I wanted to take it easy for a while. I was tired.
