I founded Living the Dream Publishing in order to have a platform for producing creative works that enhance the enjoyment of some of the natural wonders of the Western United States. Travel guides have their place, but my mission is to provide fictional stories that give the recreational traveler a more in-depth and personalized look at America's state and national parks.
The Johnny Blue Mystery Series brings back the style of the old paperback westerns and amateur sleuth mysteries with their simple plots and good-hearted heroes triumphing over cowardly villains. This series modernizes the old stories and characters by placing them in the setting of our modern-day park system.
Whether you are a lover of mystery novels and quality fiction or just a casual reader interested in seeing natural settings from another viewpoint, I think you will find the main characters of these stories likable, the plot lines engaging, and the setting descriptions captivating enough to keep you coming back for more.
Not too long ago I quit my job as a software engineer in the aerospace industry, sold my house in Tucson and headed for destinations unknown. I spent several months living a simple life unencumbered by the work-a-day world. My friends said I was "Living the Dream."
After being chased by bears and mosquitoes through Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota and Colorado, I soon realized that the northern states were nice to visit but there was no place like home. I returned to Tucson to write the story of my adventures.
I simplified my life and began writing the kind of simple, easy to read stories I liked to read by the light of the campfire on my travels. My friends said I was still "Living the Dream."
I formed my own publishing company and am working hard to share my vision of "Living the Dream." I believe the mystery novels we offer will enhance your experience as you visit the natural wonders of the western United States. We accept checks or money orders made out to Joseph A. Mootz. Do not send cash or credit card information to us through the mail or via email. We only accept credit cards online through PayPal. Send check or money order made out to Joseph A. Mootz to the above address.
Sales Tax
We are required to collect sales tax for shipping addresses within the state of Arizona at the rate in effect at the time of shipping your order. The state tax rate will be calculated during the ordering process.
Processing an Order
